Put your shoulder into it!!
In Nehemiah Chapter 3 when the Israelites were coming back to build the wall in Jerusalem, the Lord tells all these details about each gate being built, by who, how far they got, etc. He names people, who their lineage is, what they were in charge of-the "whole nine."
BUT
If you pay attention, in Nehemiah 3:8 the Lord says " . . . but their nobles put not their shoulders to the work of the Lord."
Simple, quick little 'comment'...right in the middle of all the rest.
Think about that.

Making Disciples of Men
Making Disciples of Men: A Biblical Guide
What
does it take to mold males into men of steady faith in an era brimming with
distractions and worldliness? The role of discipling men is very significant in
the character of the church. Rooted within biblical teachings, discipling men
is not just the task of molding men into devout Christians, but molding,
teaching and training them to become mature followers of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Discipling
men is a dynamic process that empowers men to become disciples and followers of
the teachings of Jesus Christ. But what do these teachings entail? How can this
process be made more effective and impactful?
Being
a man, according to Bible, means displaying resilience in times of trials,
humility in success, and love for all, irrespective of internal or external
differences. Galatians 5:22-23 teaches about the Fruit of the Spirit,
highlighting love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness
and self-control, as virtues.
These
virtues set the foundation for discipling men.
Discipling Men: A
Process
The
journey to becoming a godly man requires hard praying, persistent effort and a
continuous process of learning, understanding, and following the Word of God.
This process involves:
- Biblical Instruction: This includes regular reading, understanding, and following the Holy Bible, which acts as a guide to every aspect of life.
- Prayer and Communion: It demands a life of prayer and communion with the Lord and His people.
- Fellowship: It requires participation in a community that fosters growth and supports each member’s spiritual journey.
- Service: It calls for
actively serving within the Church and community, building a heart for
people, and utilizing the God-given gifts to fulfill His purposes.
Discipling Men: The Role
of the Bible
We
can't ignore the fundamental role the Bible plays in discipling men. The Bible
acts as a the eternal roadmap, demonstrating the path for every man willing to
become a true disciple of Jesus. It dives deeper into the life and teachings of
Jesus and the church- imparting valuable
knowledge that helps men grow spiritually and morally.
Can
we then say that the Bible is the ultimate handbook for discipling men?
Absolutely!
Discipling
men is an fundamental pillar of the Christian faith. It not only encourages men
to grow closer to God, but also equips them with the knowledge and skills to
become better individuals, husbands, fathers, and leaders.
